The Hump, a fashionable sushi restaurant in Los Angeles could be charged with serving whale meat following a sting operation by the crew of The Cove, a film about Japanese dolphin hunting that won an Academy Award for best documentary. The documentary team's investigation was conducted in conjunction with law enforcement officials who later raided the restaurant.

The Shonan Maru No.2 rammed the Ady Gil at high speed cutting it into two. Crew of the Sea Shepherd Ship "Bob Barker" launched a rubber craft and rescued the Crew on the Ady Gil.
