For Alchemist the dictionary read: 錬金術師 I couldn’t read it. I just knew it was something about gold. “How do you say this?”
“Renkinjutsushi, ” she struggled to say. “Maybe…I never see that word.”

Urban hymns
Londoners are being sought to text “commuter haikus” of summer in London via twitter. Those approved are then displayed on giant screens at King’s Cross and St Pancras stations and a winner will be chosen by Yoko Ono. Organisers Network Rail are billing it as the world’s first “interactive mobile social-media poetry competition”.

Zen Haiku
Haiku is one of the most popular and highly regarded forms of Japanese poetry. Although the form of haiku evolved over time, in it's current form it is composed of a 17-syllable verse, broken into units of 5, 7, and 5 syllables. Most haiku describe a single image or moment, often from nature.

this one's for remora..... The American poet Patricia Donegan (b. 1945) is quite well known in haiku circles, both for her own poems, and for her writings about haiku. Besides her own collections, she has issued one guide on creating haiku for children (or even interested adults).

A Tribute to Autumn
