Fukuoka man arrested for grave robbing
A man has been arrested for stealing a diamond ring and other jewelry from a grave in Fukuoka.
The man is accused of stealing 21 items of jewelry including diamond and sapphire rings and a jade necklace that a Kurume resident in her 60s had stored in a grave in the city. The items have a combined value of about 11 million yen.

Former gang office to be used as police station in Fukuoka
A house that used to be the office of a criminal syndicate will be used as a local substation for the Fukuoka Prefectural Police.
The two-story house is located by a prefectural road in the Yamaguchi district of Chikushino. Sometime around April 2007, the year after the house was first built, it was found to be used as the office of a gang affiliated with criminal syndicate Dojin-kai.

Dalai Lama to give speeches in Tokyo, Kitakyushu
The Dalai Lama will visit Japan for a week in early November at the invitation of a Buddhist association in Fukuoka Prefecture, a spokesman for the Dalai Lama said Sunday in Tokyo. He was discharged from a hospital Oct. 16 in New Delhi after surgery for gallstones.
