Polish Nurses Want You!

The Japan Times reports that the Polish tourism commission is trying to woo Japanese and other Asian visitors to Poland to attend the International Frederick Chopin Piano Competition scheduled to be held in October in Warsaw.
Now, as we all know, eager-beaver Asians love the piano and try hard to teach their keener children to play the violin, so attracting them to a Chopin festival should be a cinch.
However, according to the Japan Times, the Polish Tourist Organization has crafted an ad campaign designed to appeal directly to the especially horny…hearts of the Japanese, a people known to have a highly developed fetish for cute little nurses.
Unfortunately, the site hasn’t been translated into Japanese, yet. Sounds like a job for Japundit!

The nurse fetish extends to Taiwan, via Japan, where the roadside betel nut sales girls often dress up in nurse uniforms, too, as pictured here. Go figure. But Polish nurses? Double trouble!
August 2nd, 2005 at 2:18 pmThe Polish tourist board actually tried to do something which (I thought) was very cool in the wake of the London terrorist bombings. In place of the sexy Polish Plumber & Polish Nurse posters, they had one on their Website that showed one of the Polish fighter pilots who flew with the RAF during the Battle of Britain, with the headline reading;
London, we are with you again.
Well, not to carry on the stereotype of the Polish joke, but the poster is sadly gone from the Net. If you want to know why, check out;

Still, it was certainly a classy attempt at solidarity.

Dr. Thomas Barnett is indicted for treason
Esquire’s July issue featured a long, carefully reported profile of Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld by Thomas Barnett. The piece included a quote from Lt. Gen. Greg Newbold on Rumsfeld’s style, saying, …

The Radio Polonia link has it wrong anyway. John Kent was a Canuck not an Englishman, was 303 squadron’s first CO, and therefore is perfectly appropriate for him to be on that poster. He was also fondly dubbed “Kentowski” by the Poles, so that kinda makes him one of them too, I guess.. BTW 303 was the top-scoring RAF fighter squadron of the Battle of Britain despite having entered the fight late, so they do carry some meaning in this kinda situation.
Gotta love it how they stuck it to the French with the plumber though, heh.
August 3rd, 2005 at 12:10 pmDuo, I gotta agree with you; they should’ve left the poster up. I saw it before it was removed, and it looked great. Thanks for the Kentowski reference, that’s a terrificadd-on.
