Earlier in 2009 I revisited the mudslinging festival I attended 2 years ago. This time I got some interviews (well one at least) and learned a little more about the Hadaka Matsuri - Naked Festival.
In Yotsukaido in Chiba in Eastern Japan, a planting festival is held in early February where nigh naked men clad in loincloths known as fundoshi go down to a cold muddy pond and wrestle in the mud. The festival is to ensure health and wealth of the community and rice crops.
