Renowned psychoanalyst Takeo Doi died on Sunday afternoon. He was 89.

Doi, a graduate of University of Tokyo's faculty of medicine, later studied at the Menninger School of Psychiatry in the U.S. in 1950, where he focused on the behavioral and psychological differences between Japanese and Americans.
