Kawagoe - Little Edo

http://www.mikesblender.com

While the crowds decended on Toshogu Shrine, I headed directly to the outskirts, the area around lake Chuzenji and Yunoko, for some winter hiking...

Kanazawa

http://www.mikesblender.com

...Even without snow however, Kenrokuen was still quite beautiful, and miles ahead of Kairakuen (whose inclusion in the top three parks of Japan remains a mystery to me). Fuji Five Lakes Winter Hike

http://www.mikesblender.com

...the view of Mt. Fuji from the north side of the lake is the view you can see on the current 1000 yen bill, which you can compare from the above and below pictures if you happen to have one on you at the moment. Unfortunately I have no control over the clouds or the roughness of the lake, so it's not an exact replica, but you get the idea.
