Japanese BBS 2ch suffered a massive cyber attack on March 1 from what was later identified as Korean web users. Timed to coincide with the March 1 national holiday celebrating Korea's 1919 rebellion against its colonial overlord Japan, Korean netizens banded together to silence 2ch after a thread on the site offered comments suggesting that Kim Yu-na had bribed the judges. A clip from NTV claiming that Mao Asada should have had a higher score also is believed to have fueled the Korean anger.
While 2ch may seem like a victim in this case, we should remind you that Japanese netizens back in 2008 crashed the Korean VANK server when Asada defeated Kim at the Grand Prix final in Goyang, Korea.

Some say Korean bought the figure skating judges and Yuna Kim's scores were too much overrated. There's likely a reason for that.
PyeongChang was the candidate city of South Korea for the Winter Olympics 2014, but failed to Russian city of Sochi. The Korean Hyundai group had already hugely invested for buying large land to build an Olympic athletes city and there's no way for them to give it up. Korean Olympic committee and Hyundai Group are aiming for next Winter Olympics 2018 no matter how much it will cost for lobbying activities. Especially gold medal of Yuna Kim was considered as crucial appeal for the Winter Olympic games 2018.
But then again there is the inconvenient truth that Kim's performance overall was much better than Mao's was.
Of course, the stuff about the judges is just a rumor. But some Japanese people couldn't completely elimilate the suspect if the judges overrated Yuna Kim. The argument should be not on who won but on Kim's unusual high scores like over 150 points just for Free Program. Especially she gained 17.40 GOE points whereas Mao Asada gained 8.84 points (which was already high enough).
Besides, Asada's program components with 3 triple axel were some points higher than Kim's that meant Asada's program was much more difficult than Kim's. This case is similar like the one between Laysacek and Plushenko. Plushenko jumped 2 quad but lost to Laysachek that some people might find unfair.
Moreover, for Korean people the day March 1st has the historic meaning. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/March_1st_Movement
So, some Korean hackers must have generated tons of accesses to the 2ch bulletin board on March 1st by using attacking software to make that website down.
Yeah....and Kim's way hotter too. (-:
There's that, too!
These two sides are SO idiotic and childish.
I think both are great but I agree, Kim's hotter. But I like Mao's sister even better!
Generally the score points of Ladies are 80% of Men's, And Kim's Free Program score at Vancouver should be 187.58 points for Men's standard. Whereas the Free Program scores of 3 Men medallists are :
167.37 Evan Lysacek
165.51 Evgeny Plushenko
156.98 Daisuke Takahashi
Therefore, Kim's score can be considered inflated. I don't believe her score will ever be broken in near future. Other former skaters also mentioned as follows :
lvis Stojko: "Yuna has the sex appeal. Mao has an innocence about her skating with grace." "Yuna skated great. She was awesome. But her score was inflated. Mao's triple axel double toe is WAY more difficult than Kim's triple Lutz triple toe. She'll more than likely have a few mistakes here, but the gold medal is absolutely hers to lose."
Sasha Cohen: "Yu-Na is a faster, more powerful skater, but she doesn't have as difficult a program as Mao."
Scott Hamilton: “It's amazing how easily Yuna Kim can collect points in other ways. Every single moment she's out there,
she's adding value. Every time she takes a breath, I think she collects points."
Too bad for Mao that all those folks weren't judges.
Anyway, I saw the whole thing with my own eyes, and IMHO Kim out-skated Mao from beginning to end.
Agreed. Kim was simply better in both short & long programs, whether or not her score was inflated is irrelevant.
