the Daimaru store next to the new Tetsujin-28 manga statue offers much better prices than the one in central Kobe. Nagata-ku probably suffered the most amount of damage in the 1995 earthquake which is the 15th anniversary this coming Sun. Jan 17.

By the way it seems that they are preparing the new park (just before the bridge for Port Island) for official opening. Most probably it is for the anniversary.
the official site for the anniversary is the Earthquake Memorial park in Flower Rd next to the city hall. This year there is also a walk aimed at young people who no longer know about the earthquake. It will be from the memorial park to Suma but I don't know any other details. It will go through Nagata-ku.
