English teachers busted on drug charges

http://www.japanupdate.com

Two American school teachers are under arrest on charges of smuggling drugs into Japan, but they’re claiming innocence on grounds they didn’t know the drugs were illegal.

Kristin Zodrow, a 23-year-old teacher at an Itoman junior high school, and 22-year-old Ashley Lawrence, a teacher at Naha International High School, have been charged with smuggling Mind Candy into the country. The pair admit making the purchase, but say “Yes, we did order the Mind Candy from England through the internet. We didn’t know Mind Candy is illegeal to bring to Japan and we didn’t know it is a drug.”

I have never heard of "mind candy" but there's a whole list of medical drugs which are legal elsewhere but not in Japan. I'm not sure this is a "real drug smuggling case" and both are probably innocent of any wrong doing!

I have checked it out, it's plant food!

The fertilizer contains the legal substances Ketones, Dicalcium Phosphate and Magnesium Sterate.

The pills are supposed to be used to encourage leaf growth and strengthen roots.

But although it sports a picture of a brain on the label on small writing on the back it reads "not for human consumption".

Can you be arrested for importing plant food?
