Nice movie and actually useful! I learned how to ask if the sit is free - yoroshko desu ka?
Thank you for posting.
I once showed this video in a classroom setting, and one viewer was sincerely offended by the implication that endangered animals are served as sushi, and the part about feet smelling like vinegar (because of wearing the "geta" that the sushi is served on).
The same reaction here from my colleagues when we showed them very similar movie (it was about western style Japanese restaurant). I think they just take it completely seriously!
There's an awesome scene in Juzo Itami's movie Tampopo that's kind of the reverse of this. (Your comment above reminded me of it.) There's a woman (Itami's wife is the actress, I believe.) Teaching an etiquette class in an Italian restaurant. She tells the students to eat noiselessly and neatly until an Italian guy comes into the restaurant and starts slurping up the noodles. The student see this and start to copy him, eventually the etiquette teacher gives in and follows suit. Itami knew his own culture well.
